About Me

I am a journalist and writer whose work has appeared in The Nation, PolitiFact, Ballotpedia, The Des Moines Register, The Kitsap Sun and The Daily Yonder. I have reported on crime, gun legislation, national politics, newspaper closures, homeless encampments and labor law violations, among other topics.

I have worked as a copy editor and am formally trained in AP Style. Prior to working as a journalist, I worked as a political science research assistant with Dr. David Schultz at Hamline University, and facilitated outreach and reviewed survey methodology with the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota Legislature.

I am available for freelance assignments, other opportunities or just to talk, at ninabaker [dot] freelance [at] outlook [dot] com.
